spring abundance

Our new chickens have begun laying eggs!  The first ones they lay are always smaller than usual, we fried one up for lunch along with two duck eggs, which are larger than chickens eggs, and also more delicious in my opinion.

We spent the day putting remay which is a thin cloth over the brasica’s we planted yesterday to protect them from bugs.  We also planted a bunch of alliums, onions, leeks and bunching onions.  In the afternoon we planted some peas.

My chore this week is milking Blackberry in the evening.  Tonight she gave us almost two gallons!  It’s great having an abundance of milk, it gives us the opportunity to make yoghurt, cheese, butter, and of course, ice cream!
