Success!!!

Sam and I are pleased to announce we had our first successful batch of tomato sauce turn out this weekend!  We chopped, cooked, and simmered the tomatoes for a few hours, cooking it down to almost half its size.  We let it cool for a bit than put it all through a food mill and cooked it for another hour or so and at the end added some salt, basil, and lemon juice to keep the acidity level high-so as not to grow anything in our jars.  We had three different types of jars, ball jars, weck jars, and bail top jars, all of which sealed successfully.
